Today, after actually years of waiting around, we finally heard from both WB Montreal, and Rocksteady about the two new games. Neither of which will be out in the next year….
E3 has been a staple of the gaming industry for as long as I can basically remember, back in the mid 90’s when I was just around 10 years old, I would remember seeing gaming magazines like Gamepro or EGM cover this industry wide event. Telling me about all the newest upcoming games for the next year. Some claim E3 as Gamer’s Christmas, and while I have even said that in the past, it’s more just marketing than anything else. Christmas is really the Gamer’s Christmas as that’s usually when the majority of those games actually come out. E3 is filled with tons of announcements to games that never see the light of day, or if they do, they are either years and years away from when they were announced or very different. And that in and of itself isn’t a bad thing either.
I watched Joker. I was about to type that I really don’t have much to say about Joker. Everyone knows my stance on DC movies enough already. But, now that I think about it, I feel a rant coming on.
I was watching a video today about Nvidia’s new updated Shield TV Pro. The Shield TV Pro first came out in May of 2015. Then a new Model in 2017, now a new one at the end of 2019. So presumably we can expect a new model in 2021 as well.
I used to read a lot of comics as a kid. I had tons… but I stopped reading at some point. I think probably because it was just hard to get a hold of back then. We had a comic shop, but it was always so out of the way from where my parents went for anything, it was more of a “special occasion” than anything else.
A lot of internet gaming is based on “retro” games. Games that came out for older generations of systems and are harder to come by.
For me retro gaming isn’t a fad, or for that fact really isn’t anything special. It’s just playing games, older games sure, but I don’t really have anything in mind when I go to play an old NES or Genesis game. I am not trying to show off, I just want to game. And that is where the problem really lies for me most of the time. Everyone now-a-days (yeah, I use that term) always has to make an event of some sort to show off an older game, like it’s some unknown ancient relic they have stumbled upon.
